My name is Gerry Morgan, or, "the zenman" by those who know me. This is not because I have reached some level of calm and oneness with all, but because I play the zendrum...which is great fun.
I live in the village of Wakefield, just north of Ottawa Canada on the Gatineau River with my wife Estelle.
I am a career musician and more recently an engineer and producer. My secondary activity, (day gig) is Internet Community Building. I am currently looking for partners for my latest project..."The Aboriginal Internet".
We have recently moved to Wakefield Quebec from Aylmer Quebec where we lived with our three children...Kristopher, Frederick and Sarah...now all grown up and on their own.
Through out my 35 year professional career I have always been fascinated by digital drums and as a result I have used every type of pad set and module from the early days when Simmons hit the market.
Several years ago I came across the Zendrum -...had to have one-...and have had a lot of fun playing it.
Imagine as a drummer being the last to arrive and set up in 15 minutes and the first to tear down...(10 minutes max.) and out the door with your back intact and a case in one hand and a beer in the other. Of course nothing can replace the love I feel for my acoustic drums. My kit is a beautiful black and gray mother of pearl Premier Series kit with Sabian hats and cymbals. The kit was made in England and is one of the limited edition hand made Premier Series with maple shells. I still have the same crashes I got 20 years ago when I had the chance to tour the new Sabian drum company in Meductic, New Brunswick.
